  31. discoursedrome said: idk how it is there but here at least schools are allowed to charge international students way more, not just in terms of lack of subsidies but in terms of getting more revenue overall. this means that in all but the real hotshot schools the policy tends to select for people with a lot of money who are treating an international tour as a checked box on a resume. That seems to be mostly undergrad, though, I assume it would thin out pretty heavily at the phd level.
