I can’t speak for mark but i think there’s an element of the… visibility? given to the issue - and from the first how it was used by republicans - where it’s used a lot as symbolical driven point. It does also affect the day-to-day life of trans people in a very real way (and making the symbolical point that they matter is not wasted either) so you’re right as well. Ideally both concerns should have been addressed but…
