Actually, 4Chan is apparently a faction in the Syrian Civil War right now.
Though I think you’re mistaken in assuming that most of them were in it for real change and not for the memes.

jesus fucking christ, some poor soul shared David Hines’s debut article on Jacobite on /pol/ and the users are really going out of their way to prove his point about the right being incredibly disorganized and ill-prepared for any actual happening
What if people are not stupid because of political ideology, but political ideology is stupid because of people?
…this thought is going to keep me up at night.
2020: Feeling their fate sealed, the Alt Right take on the aesthetic of white people as Elves, an ancient civilization too good for the world, fading from the Earth.
A member of /pol/ writes a story in which the Last White Man yields the Earth to the Chinese. As a trolling opportunity, this is rewritten as a Twillight-equivalent fanfiction and distributed in order to try and troll the media again. (It doesn’t work, as anything over 5,000 words isn’t particularly memeworthy.)
Mario, you’re not even wearing the Frog Suit. You’re an embarrassment, Mario.
It turns out that Mario is part of the elusive hacker known as 4Chan.
this is a good sign that maybe call out/accountability processes are a bad idea because there’s no way to stop them from being weaponized against you by bad faith actors
what if demonstrating this was half the reason they do it in the first place

Melbourne was in fact founded by Batman, which explains the art deco buildings and the dark brooding winter.
This is a common misconception. Batman is, in fact, a heavy-handed metaphor for Melbourne itself. Even the original authors confirmed this in a leaked document released on 4chan.
4chan: “Yo, we can totally make mainstream media think the OK sign is a hate symbol”
ADL: “That’s not a hate symbol”
PJW: “HA! WE MADE THEM SAY IT ISN’T A HATE SYMBOL!”
It’s also rather arbitrary and just seems like a dumb and meanspirited game the reactionaries always “win.”
Like obviously the okay single is too universal to be taken by white supremacists. But if a bunch of them, and fellow travelers, start using it as a “joke,” it’s asinine not to notice.
Like with Pepe, it’s just a funny cartoon. But these days if I see a Twitter avi with him, I’m not gonna be surprised if it’s some anti-Semite who screeches “cuck” at everyone. Yet, one either acknowledges that association and “falls for it,” or they don’t and say that Pepe, etc aren’t hate symbols, then they’re also “falling for it.”
it’s the right-wing application of the Kafka Trap.
“Liberals say everything is offensive!” “That’s not offensive” “See, they had to reply to it because dumb liberals were offended!”
vs
“You’re racist!” “I’m not racist” “You saying you’re not racist just means you’re racist!”
It’s because everyone is so sick and tired of it, so they decided to make dumb left wing virtue signalling, that used to be a way to attack the right with an ever-changing array of fashionable terms, into an exploitable vulnerability. They’re also taking advantage of dumb Antifas punching anyone who isn’t a real white nationalist.

People have been calling each other nazis casually (“Feminazi”, Obama is a nazi) for decades, and poking around with symbols and discovering bullshit gematria and whatever for much, much longer than that.
There was a serious concern in the populace over whether Obama was the actual, literal Antichrist.
The policing of it has been more powerful among the American Left lately. Newspapers were whining about a cartoon frog. TBH it’s just satisfying seeing the guys who frequently go “no only a Republican could be so stupid and inbred lol” while, say, ignoring or shutting down the fact that a certain group they actually favor *is* more inbred, getting worked up into a froth by trolling in such a way that it delegitimizes their controlling anger.
The Right is dumb too, it’s just that the Left was supposed to be better but they aren’t.
People bitching about “> greentext”,
honeys, the > sign has been used to denote quotations in flat text since before 4chan even existed. If you’re worried about its ideological contamination, and that the syntax might twist your soul into an Alt-Righter or something, you’re an idiot.
Sometimes I wish tumblr had a downvote option to allow me to go hog-wild in fucking over fascist / anti-sjw / 4chan blogs.
Right, because that works so well on reddit…
Haha, in about ten minutes, downvotes would become a badge of pride, showing how successful the blog was at annoying people like OP. Plus the dumb call-out posts would immediately begin downvoting random fifteen year old girls into oblivion for not liking the right SU ship.
SAN FRANCISCO—In an effort to reduce the number of unprovoked hostile communications on the social media platform, Twitter announced Monday that it had added a red X-mark feature verifying users who are in fact perfectly okay to harass. “This new verification system offers users a simple, efficient way to determine which accounts belong to total pieces of shit whom you should have no qualms about tormenting to your heart’s desire,” said spokesperson Elizabeth James, adding that the small red symbol signifies that Twitter has officially confirmed the identity of a loathsome person who deserves the worst abuse imaginable and who will deliberately have their Mute, Block, and Report options disabled. “When a user sees this symbol, they know they’re dealing with a real asshole who has richly earned whatever mistreatment they receive, including profanity, body-shaming, leaking of personal information, and relentless goading to commit suicide. It’s really just a helpful way of saying to our users, ‘This fuck has it coming, so do your worst with a clear conscience and without fear of having your account suspended.’” At press time, Twitter reassuredly clarified that the red X was just a suggestion and that all users could still be bullied with as little recourse as they are now.
