Donald Trump has spent years telling outrageous lies. He’s continued to do so since assuming office, even lying about obviously verifiable things like what he’s tweeted about or the size of his inauguration crowd.

He is attacking the idea that truth matters, and trying to make people give up on telling the difference between the truth and a lie. This is dangerously disoriented.

In order to stay oriented, we need to care what’s true. This is easier said than done. In the short term, bullshit is often much more politically convenient than the truth. In the long term, if we create a world in which the truth doesn’t matter, we will end up defenseless. 

We need to keep in mind that being on the right side doesn’t make everything someone might say true. Good people can tell lies. Good people can get things wrong. Their goodness doesn’t make the lie true. 

Being marginalized doesn’t mean that someone always knows what they’re talking about. Being oppressed doesn’t make people infallible; being wrong doesn’t make someone privileged. 

Similarly, not every rumor about a bad person is accurate. Lies told about a bad person are still lies. (And not everyone who has a bad reputation is actually a bad person.)

Be careful about spreading rumors. Learn to recognize fake news, and avoid spreading it. If something doesn’t sound true to you, ask for citations or investigate. Everyone can be wrong, and you don’t have to believe anyone without being persuaded that they are right. Evidence matters, arguments matter. (And being a good person isn’t a substitute for either.)

You can’t fight evil with bullshit. In order to fight evil, we have to care what’s true.

The rivals have been lying/bullshitting/misrepresenting/omitting a lot in their attacks on Trump.  Every time I go and investigate one of the claims, I come back less trusting of the media and less trusting of the left and liberals, instead of more.

But it’s growing less surprising every day, since why was I ever foolish enough to think the Left and Liberals weren’t every bit the truth-apathetic political operatives as their rivals, when correct only correct by coincidence and not by process?

And I don’t mean to say that Trump is great, because he isn’t, but one can’t beat him on his level.  He lives there.

Of course, part of the issue with whether the guy in the CNN story is an actual wannabe doxxer, is that there is no reason to trust that Leftists (that you don’t know personally) are telling the truth. They lie so fucking much as a group. They lie about the conditions in Europe. They lie about sexism. They lie about who is and is not a Nazi, and then commit violence based on those lies. They twist statistics, by, for example, making “made to penetrate” not be counted as rape and then using those same stats to claim that sexual violence by women does not exist.

The issue here being that for the correction to go around, there has to be some credibility. That credibility has been burned repeatedly, much like we shouldn’t trust anything non-trivial that former President GWB says (or many of the GOP pols generally).

It isn’t that the Trumpists don’t care about the truth more than other ideological groups, it’s that they know their enemies control the loudspeakers and non-governmental institutions, and they expect their enemies to always lie and not care about the truth. It’s similar to the phenomena of right-wingers shitposting because they know they’ll be called Fascists regardless, so they’ve decided to wind people up over it and make them look ridiculous.

So with the Antifa ripping down a confederate statue, perhaps Social Justice Capture the Flag is back from a few years ago.

And with that, perhaps they will all switch over to doing property crimes instead of wailing on each other with bats and bike locks and what-have-you, and tensions will de-escalate.

Hopefully.  I mean if that does happen it’s probably worth the price of a few statues.

Apparently he wrote a whole book about instituting basic income as an alternative to the existing welfare system.  Since he hasn’t abandoned The Bell Curve, I think it follows that that’s his response to the matter.  I wasn’t sure on this, but I saw a clip of him advocating $10k for income plus $3k for healthcare the other day.

I’m not sure it’s an ideal policy (I think wage subsidies are likely a better option), but one must admit that giving the group you supposedly hate unconditional money transfers is not very Fascist behavior.

Last week Trump supporters and leftist social justice warriors met on the political field of battle in Berkeley, California. Words were exchanged, as were punches. And while an alt-right leader was punched in the face, by all accounts even the social justice warriors admit that they got a major beat-down.

This prompted a reddit discussion among the left’s tolerant resistance movement, with many asking how they can more effectively go to war against anyone who disagrees with their social, political, and economic views.

I love the second to last comment, a lone voice of reason.

This is troubling to say the least, but if they go about getting their guns legally not much can be done.

Yeah, no.  These are the same people that previously gave anyone hell for defending the 2nd Amendment, including LGBT people and women wanting to protect themselves.

The people that make up ANTIFA are the social outcast loser kids that got beat up and picked on at school.  These are the kind of people that fantasize about violently striking back at everyone who ever made fun of them.  They’re NOT mentally stable, they’re bitter, and this is the excuse for turning violent that they’ve always DREAMED of.  They’ve always been the ones most likely to go full Columbine, and now they see an opportunity since they’ve realized that literally NO ONE sees them as a threat, and they’re a bunch of punk-ass kids that can’t fight for shit.

They realized they ain’t shit without weapons, so now they suddenly support the right to bear arms.  What a bunch of fucking hypocrites.

You guys can’t even avoid pepper-spraying people wearing bitcoin hats and destroying cars belonging to immigrants.  Your Nazi-dar is apparently complete trash judging by its results.  If you can’t even avoid physically assaulting people that aren’t Nazis with non-lethal weapons because you’re so obsessed with “punchin’ Natzis!”, then it’s almost inevitable that random people are going to get killed in this misguided quest to become revolutionaries.

This goes double over the obsession of characterizing speech you guys disagree with as a form of “violence” in order to excuse this behavior.

What neither side of US politics wants to admit: the promotion of identity politics combined with the declining white super majority has led to turbo charged white identity politics. Since Dems catered for non-white identity politics, Trump and the GOP took hold of white identity politics.  

Most countries that do not have a 70%+ super majority ethnic group have ethnicized electoral politics.

don’t most people refer to “social justice” as being many individual acts of injustice that happen to fit into a common pattern?

I mean like “individual height” vs. “average height”; if the average height of a country declines over time that is a meaningful statistic, even though it is just a way of accumulating lots of individual heights.

I think it’s partly a kind of selective belief in Collective Intergenerational Justice, the instincts of which would normally be to prevent something like an outside country coming in, taking all your land, and then normalizing it on the next generation, with the ethical hit only applying to the invading generation.

The problem is that Collective Intergenerational Justice is the basis of ethnic revenge killings, wars, etc, and is generally just a bad idea.  It becomes more obvious how questionable it is once you realize it can’t just be applied to [LOCAL ETHNIC MAJORITY], since many [LOCALLY OPPRESSED ETHNIC MINORITY] had ancestors of the same ethnicity that engaged in widespread slaving, sexual violence, and conquest.
