There are limits to that. People eventually have to leave University (except for professors, potentially).

How can a secular replacement be created with enough motive power to gain the same benefits?

There are probably other ways to go about it as well. The point is less about that specific way, and more that “omnibenevolent” can be rescued, but only if it looks like something other than what religion says it looks like.

This is an interesting ask, but I’m not sure what the left-hand tail would be, either. Either way, I tend to believe that our ability to self-control is somewhat limited and thus consequences should also be limited, usually.

Sometimes the consequences need to be more severe because of incentives and the structure of society. It isn’t really something to be celebrated, just something we have to put up with.

At some point it doesn’t matter if Godzilla can’t help himself. He must be removed from Tokyo.

If funding could be secured, it would be possible to start a think tank, because there is a lot of work to be done. These ideas are exotic, they escape the Overton Window by travelling orthogonal to it, but they have to be refined, tested, and experimented with.

The goal would be to synthesize a new scientific art of organizational design and policy incentivization from a diverse group of fields, including political science, economics (particularly behavioral economics), psychology, philosophy, and mathematics. Most existing organizations and politics are running on pre-digital organizational technology, and very few people even think of “organizational technology” as even being a concept.

Various proposals would be drafted, analyzed, refined, and then simulated using human testers (against competing speculative policies) before being refined again cyclically and suggested for institutions smaller than the US Federal Government. To improve efficiency, various competing domain experts would be hired for short periods of time.

Actually improving governance in the United States would require doing things that deeply offend both the Democratic and Republican parties and which are at odds with their ideological pre-commitments. Formation of a political party is right out due to the First Past the Post System which makes success with policies that are only inspiring to the kinds of people that read this blog extremely improbable. Policy advocacy should therefore focus on attacking avenues which are not sufficiently defended by partisan trench warfare, municipalities, and shifting politicians on individual issues through lobbying and electoral guides, functioning as a Special Interest Group.

Until then, one can follow this strange political time travel blog and dream of the future, if one wishes, in addition to whatever political activity one normally carries out.

This is reflective of the persona I present in futurist shitposting here on Tumblr, that of someone who grew up in the North American Union prior to its integration into the Earth Federation. The choice of clothing is a callback to the United States of America, the predecessor of the NAU, at that point having already been dissolved several decades ago, and to the anti-nationalist EF, is used as a symbol by those who support the National Separationists. Those wearing symbols of the old Union aren’t against state intervention per se, and aren’t in favor of the ancient Confederacy’s war for racial supremacy (at least according to Confederate politicians), but they still believe in nations and states. Thus, Union Girl is either the [North American Union] Girl or the [Union Army/Federal] Girl.

National Separationism is suppressed by the Earth Federation government as a form of hate speech, and the Union Girl has ties to separatist organizations and is generally problematic according to the reigning social justice orthodoxy of 2112.

As a paramilitary cyborg from the future intent on reviving a nation that doesn’t currently exist, the Union Girl is technically a supervillain.

The name of this blog also has multiple meanings.
