I just saw an article last week suggesting that using identity politics in the US was a bad plan because the majority can practice identity politics, too, and the definition of “white” has expanded in the past.

Thanks to this healthcare debacle I’m feeling slightly vindicated in my feeling from last year that while Trump might be unprecedented in some ways as a presidential candidate let alone president, the sheer institutional inertia of the state and the gloriously recalcitrant nature of American politics would stymie his ability to radically reshape the nation. I mean it’s still early days, but yeah.
