He’s obviously wrong.  There are major differences in styling between not only automobiles from both Japanese and Korean vendors, but also within automobiles produced by Japanese vendors themselves!  Honda vs Toyota have clear design vocabularies that help them appeal to the different market segments they aim at.  It’s appalling that even an American should be so ignorant.
